Factors influencing the decision to participate in extracurricular activities of UEH students

Abstract

Nowadays a wide variety of extracurricular activities are being offered in schools, colleges, and universities. Students who participate in extracurricular activities generally benefit from the many opportunities afforded them. However, some students participate in extracurricular activities solely to earn extra points for training (not positive) without considering positive reasons such as participating out of interest or a desire to learn and improve knowledge. This paper discusses the reasons why students participate in extracurricular activities, as well as evaluates the participation of students in extracurricular activities based on positive or negative motivations, the research topic is "Factors influencing the decision to participate in extracurricular activities of students". Data collected from documentation with over two hundred participants from UEH universities have been analyzed for patterns and themes. The results indicate that the majority of students participate in extracurricular activities not solely to gain training points. From this, it can be concluded that students of UEH University participate in extracurricular activities with a positive mindset, and this practice should be maintained and further enhanced
