Factors affecting the intention to study postgraduate of third-year and fourth-year students at UEH University

Abstract

This study is based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and references from previous research to understand whether students intend to continue pursuing postgraduate studies after their undergraduate program and the reasons for these intentions, the author group conducted a research topic: “Factors affecting the intention to study postgraduate of third-year and fourth-year students at UEH University”. From there, understand the causes and propose remedial measures with the school to reduce this shortfall and attract students to postgraduate studies. The topic is based on the theoretical basis proposed by the group with influencing factors such as students attitudes towards postgraduate studies, the reputation of the school or training program, the quality of the school. With the data obtained is a sample of 170 third and fourth-year students of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, the research results show that “Attitude”, “Subjective Norms”, “Perceived Behavioral Control”, “Reputation of UEH University” and “Program Curriculum” are factors that have a large correlation with the intention to study postgraduate. Based on these results, the research group will propose some appropriate measures to help you easily make choices about whether or not to follow the postgraduate program after the undergraduate level.
