In our daily life, apologies for accidental mistakes are often made, and usually follow some common patterns. This research is to seek for common components and their distributions at different positions in the formula of Vietnamese apologies. From this research, the author hopes to find out evidential inferences about Vietnamese apologies. This research uses the survey method. Data from a survey conducted on Vietnamese university students are analysed and evaluated to reach findings. The research has found seven components in their Vietnamese apologies and the rank order from the most used to the least used. These findings tell us in detail about the way Vietnamese university students use components in making apologies. These research results may also help Vietnamese learners and English learners to be able to make useful comparisons between apologies in Vietnamese and in English when they learn languages.en_US
