Abstract: | Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for 90% of all businesses and 50% of all labor worldwide (World Bank). According to The White Book 2022 (Sách trắng doanh nghiệp 2022), Vietnam had 857.000 firms, with 98% of them being SMEs. While SMEs play a critical role in many economies, they usually face numerous obstacles in implementing new technologies such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) due to the lack of human capacity and financial constraints (Snider et al., 2009). As technology advances, vendors begin to provide ERP systems that are tailored for SMEs such as cloud-based or open-source solutions. However, SMEs still confront numerous challenges when it comes to ERP adoption. While companies may invest significant costs in implementing ERP systems, many types of research show that potential users may not use them. The research examines several factors influencing users’ behavioral intention to use the ERP system using data from 181 end-users from SMEs in Ho Chi Minh City. The findings are used to identify obstacles that SMEs may face to motivate their staff to utilize the system and design a strategy for ECO Engineering Corporation – an SME in the construction industry - to successfully adopt the system. |
