Abstract: | The study used the Ricardian approach to examine the economic impact of climate change on crop production in Mekong Delta, Vietnam. Net farm revenue is regressed against various explanatory variables, including climate, soil, inundation, irrigation and other socioeconomic variables to examine their influence on variability on net farm revenues. The findings show that net farm revenues are affected negatively by increasing in temperature and positively by increasing in precipitation. Under selected climate scenarios in Vietnam, the study predicted that crop net revenue are expected to fall approximately VND 500 billion in 2050; and by VND 670 to 1,300 billion by the year 2100. |
