Abstract: | Disclosure of corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an essential requirement for the international economic integration because of its benefits to society. This is especially encouraging and mandatory for the survival and sustainable development of firms in Vietnam in general and those in the South of Vietnam in particular. This paper analyzed data collected from annual reports of fifty listed companies on Hochiminh Stock Exchange from 2012-2015. It was found that CSR yearly disclosures correlated with firm’s financial performance in the following year. Therefore, actions of government agencies as well as researchers to raise public consciousness about CSR are necessary to encourage firms to carry out CSR activities and disclose CSR information, improving the firm’s competitive capacity in the global economy |
