Abstract: | This thesis research aims to analyze the impact of hybrid rice variety adoption on household welfare, particularly net revenue and consumption in Vietnam. It employs propensity score matching with data from the Vietnam Access to Resource Household Survey (VARHS) in 2012. The result shows that the adoption of hybrid rice variety does not improve net revenue, but increase household’s consumption. The research also addresses the determinants on the probability of hybrid rice adoption. The significant factors that drives farmer to adopt hybrid rice are the household head’s age, educational level, household size, land size area, irrigation condition, livestock availability, information constraint, extension staff visitation, and regional attributes. From those results, the research draws out policy suggestion to improve the adoption of hybrid rice in Vietnam. |
