Abstract: | Recent years have witnessed an increasing number of students facing stress. This issue causes significant damage, including mental health, well-being, and academic performance. This study aims to develop a comprehensive model of the antecedents and the consequences of stress on academic performance, together with the mediating effect of procrastination and the moderating effect of self-efficacy. Data collected from 621 undergraduate students from different universities in Ho Chi Minh City are analyzed through SPSS and AMOS. It is confirmed that relationship problems, personal problems, academic load, and environments are the causes of students' stress. Furthermore, stress can directly affect academic performance directly and/or indirectly through the mediating effects of active procrastination and passive procrastination. Since the issue of stress is still subject to further validation, this study will provide an important source for students, universities and families to understand the impact of stress on students' academic performance and offer solutions for this issue. |
