dc.description.abstract | Drawing upon the self-determination theory, this paper examines the effects of ambidextrous leadership on both harmonious passion and obsessive passion, and subsequently work crafting. Perceived work significance moderates the relationship between work passion and work crafting. Results based on a survey data collected from 186 employees working in hospitality industries show that work passion mediate the relationship between ambidextrous leadership and work crafting. Perceived work significance weakens the negative relationship between obsessive passion and work crafting. Our findings extend the literature on ambidextrous leadership, work passion, and work crafting in hospitality services in Vietnam and suggest possible ways for recruiting, training and retaining employees in this sector. To gain the competitive advantages, hospitality companies should recruit or train their leaders ● to allow different ways of accomplishing a task, ● to encourage experimentation with different ideas, ● as well as flexibly in controlling adherence to rules, and sticking to plans. Hospitality companies should train their employees to enhance their employees’ awareness that their work can bring the benefit to the customers with whom they interact. Hospitality companies can measure to understand more about the harmonious passion and obsessive passion of their employees to design and equip suitable training for them | en_US |
