Abstract: | Education is one of the most important factors in producing human resources. The main objective of this paper is to investigate the determinant factors impacting the Academic Performance (AP) of regular undergraduate students from Ho Chi Minh city. Recent development in the availability of achievement data have enabled researchers to identify the determinants of education outcomes. Fueled by recent advancements in academic data accessibility, researchers are now shedding light on the various determinants of educational outcomes. This study specifically focuses on six crucial factors: Family Expectations, Socio-economic Status (SES), Self-efficacy, Engagement, Collaborative Learning, and the interplay between SES and Family Expectations. The sample consists of 306 students from all universities in Ho Chi Minh city and the results of the research reveals a positive association between all of these factors and Academic Performance. In this research the data were analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative approach through a survey questionnaire, the study utilized SMARTPLS 4 for data analysis based on Social Cognitive Theory and Conservation of resources (or COR) theory. This finding underscores the multifaceted nature of student success, going beyond solely focusing on Socio-economic background. This research has pointed out that SES, Self-efficacy, Collaborative Learning and Family Expectation have a positive impact on Academic Performance while Engagement does not. In addition, research also shows that Socioeconomic Status has a positive impact on Family Expectation although it does not impact Academic Performance directly. At the same time, there is a significant difference on how Socio-economic Status impacts Family Expectations of the two student groups, highly distinctive and distinctive. |
