Abstract: | This research investigates the factors influencing waste source sorting behaviors among university students, utilizing the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as a theoretical framework. Drawing upon a sample of 339 actively practicing waste sorters, the study analyzes the relationships between subjective norms, awareness benefits, environmental consciousness, awareness consequences, waste source sorting intention, and actual sorting behavior. The findings support several hypotheses, highlighting the significant impact of subjective norms on awareness benefits and environmental consciousness. However, the study challenges previous research by revealing a nuanced relationship between subjective norms and waste source sorting intention. While environmental consciousness strongly influences intention and subsequent behavior, awareness benefits and consequences exhibit varying effects. The practical implications emphasize targeted interventions to foster positive environmental attitudes and waste sorting intentions. The research contributes to the understanding of waste management behaviors, particularly in educational contexts, and suggests avenues for future research. |
