dc.description.abstractScholarly and professional literature has extensively documented the negative consequences of excessive and problematic use of social networking sites (SNSs). However, there are a lot of unanswered questions around the topic of SNS addiction and its effects on college students' learning. This article explores what factors cause SNS addiction and how it ultimately leads to academic procrastination. The authors hypothesize that SNS Wanting, SNS Liking, Escapism, and Sense of Belonging contribute to SNS Addiction, resulting in reduced motivation, which in turn will procrastinate studying. The authors use The Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) for analyzing the data collected from a questionnaire via Google form. The results suggest that the desire (wanting not liking) to use social networks, the urge to escape from the real world and the feeling of belonging to social networking sites are the causes of social network addiction. At the same time, college students who are addicted to social networking sites also experience a decrease in motivation, which contributes to the issue of academic procrastination. This research makes many theoretical contributions by bringing a new combination of theory and model. In addition, the research also proposes methods to prevent social networking site addiction in university students, thereby achieving the lifelong learning goal of SDG 4en_US
