Abstract: | The main objective of this study is to analyze the impact of climate change on food security in ASEAN countries. Research data were collected from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Bank, encompassing 10 ASEAN member states from the period of 2000 to 2020. The study employed a linear regression model for panel data using various methods such as Fixed Effects, Random Effects, POOL combined with OLS (Ordinary Least Squares), and GLS (Generalized Least Squares). The research findings indicate that climate change significantly affects food security through food supply, malnutrition rates, and international migration, as agricultural output decreases by thousands of tons in areas exhibiting signs of extreme weather. High temperatures and excessive rainfall signal adverse impacts on agricultural productivity, not only causing yield losses but also prompting labor migration when agricultural work becomes infeasible. This study holds substantial significance in assessing the impact of extreme weather events on agriculture and offers recommendations to contribute to securing food sources and mitigating climate change not only within ASEAN countries but globally. It serves as a valuable reference for policymakers in economics and climate during the current period. |
