Abstract: | This paper aims to present the relationships among students' willingness to communicate in English, their academic achievement, and the personalities of the Business English Department students of the University of Economic Ho Chi Minh City. To this end, we surveyed 50 students studying at the department who completed the questionnaire, then 7 chosen participants were interviewed. The research study utilized a mixed approach, and the instruments employed in this study included the MBTI test, a questionnaire, academic records, and interviews. Students' overall willingness to communicate in English was found to be between moderate and high. It was found that self-confidence and motivation showed significant correlations with the WTC in English. There is a significant influence of factors such as social situations, topics, interlocutors, and students' anxiety on their willingness to communicate. These findings also suggest that individual personality traits play a significant role in shaping communication behaviors and attitudes, highlighting the nuanced relationship between personality types and willingness to communicate. This study discovered that personality groups have a relationship with foreign language students' speaking scores |
