dc.description.abstractAt the end of April and the beginning of May 2021, some provinces and cities in Vietnam have faced the 4th wave of COVID-19 caused by new strains. Among them, Ho Chi Minh City is the one that has been adversely affected by the economy and social security in a variety of ways, cityzens are rarely permitted to leave their homes and daily activities have to be postponed or transformed. Higher education at the city's institutions has planned and publicized classes for students in this scenario by utilizing the E-learning system. The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of learning engagement in order to determine the efficacy of learning on the E-learning system in this context. The study specifically investigates and assesses the link between cognitive elements from learners such as self-efficacy, subjective well-being, and cognitive components in technology like perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and learning coherence are all important factors to the association in learning. Simultaneously, we investigated the impact of perceived control, perceived closeness, and peer referent in the learning process to students' self-efficacy and subjective well-being. The results are based on 457 student survey questionnaires from universities in Ho Chi Minh City that use the E-learning system, which were cleaned from the original 507 surveys. The findings indicate a favorable association between perceived variables of control, closeness, peer influence on self-efficacy, subjective well-being, and these two factors coupled with the perception of self-efficacy, the usefulness of the online learning system in terms of student engagement. Based on the findings of the study, we recommend some approaches to increase the efficacy and engagement of learning by increasing learner awareness of positive characteristics and upgrading the online learning system. online in the light of the difficult COVID-19 issue.en_US
